Irish-Owned Packaging Experts Announce Partnership Agreement During Trade Mission to Canada
Toronto, Canada and Dublin, Ireland
Millmount Healthcare, an Irish pharmaceutical packaging company, today announced the completion of its first major order with major Canadian pharmaceutical company Apotex Inc. for the contract packaging of their high-value pharmaceutical products.
The announcement was made during the visit to Toronto by the Irish Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Mr. Richard Bruton T.D. who is on a 3-day trade and investment Mission to Canada. Welcoming the announcement, Minister Bruton T.D said:“Life-sciences is one of
the sectors that holds particular potential for Irish companies in sophisticated markets such as Canada, and is a sector which we have specifically targeted in the Action Plan for Jobs. This announcement by Millmount Healthcare is a significant win for the company giving them their first foothold in this very important market, and a great example of what is possible for other Irish companies. Through this week’s trade mission and other supports which my Department and Enterprise Ireland provide, I am determined to ensure that we can build on successes like this to
create the export-based growth and jobs we need.”
Pascal Keogh, Managing Director and Founder of Millmount Healthcare commented: “This deal with Apotex Inc. represents our first foray outside of the European market, which is a major milestone for our company. Although we are well accustomed to dealing with non-European pharmaceutical companies, their business model has always been centered around using Millmount Healthcare as a springboard into Europe, with product sent to our facilities for packaging and release (by Millmount) to other EU destinations. This is the first time that the end-destination
for the finished product will be a non-European country, another first for our company.”
Millmount has developed a high-potent packaging facility in Navan, Co. Meath which specialises in small-series runs of high-value pharmaceutical products. The partnership with Apotex will start with a new key product recently launched into the pharmaceutical marketplace.
Apotex Inc. is the largest Canadian-owned pharmaceutical company. The company produces more than 300 generic pharmaceuticals in approximately 4,000 dosages that are exported to 115 countries. The company is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.
Mr. Elie Betito, Director Public & Government Affairs of Apotex Inc. said, “We chose Millmount Healthcare due to their unique service offering - their ability to handle small-series, high-potent packaging at competitive prices.”
